Sardinia Lands, a new way of doing agriculture
A new integrated platform, the Agris and CRS4 projectA new integrated platform for the assessment of agro-ecological areas of Sardinia to protect sustainable agriculture, with the aid of advanced and aerospace technologies: it is called Sardinia Lands and it is the project by Agris and CRS4, which experiments with a new way of do agriculture, through the transition to innovative cultivation methods, the efficient use of natural resources and the sustainability of production.
Almost 500,000 euros have been invested in the development of the platform, while the territories involved are: the ideal Nurra for the olive tree, Arzana and Loceri for the almond tree, Muravera for citrus fruits and finally Pula for the vine. Over 24 satellite surveys and 30 with the use of drones were carried out on these four macro-areas in the eight farms involved in the project.
«The goal is to make usable and give indications so that certain territories can be made usable on specific crops suitable for these territories, the methodology applied is good for all of Sardinia, therefore, in addition to those where the project was developed, there is great openness to also develop it in other contexts on the island», says Giacomo Cao, sole director of CRS4.
