Extraordinary result for the Ussanese of Ukrainian origins Ruslan Farci. The Karel Sport athlete ranked 23rd overall at the XTerra world championships in the Elite category which took place in the splendid setting of Lake Molveno in Trentino. «It was my debut in the Elite category at the world championships», says Farci. «I had just two weeks to prepare for the race. In fact, I was recovering from an injury which did not allow me to train in the best possible way in the month of August, compromising the European championships in Riva del Garda last September 8th. Race that I was unable to complete feeling very demoralized. In fourteen days, with the support of my coach Jim Thijs, I did everything I could to intensify my training. At the world championship", he continues, "I expected a tough race due to the weather conditions with the rain which made the route challenging. Fortunately, on the day of the race the weather was kind. I set out aware that I would come out of the swimming test slightly delayed", he recounts his experience. «Then, getting on my mountain bike, I managed to make a difference by gaining many positions. I arrived at the last fraction, the trail running one, with still some energy that allowed me to gain a few more positions and finish my world championship in 23rd position, just 30 seconds from the top 20. Third of the Italians."
Programs? «The season isn't over yet», he concludes. «On October 14th I will be involved in the Xterra long distance scheduled in Castiadas».
