Roberto Muzzi , technical coordinator of the Primavera and Under 18 of Cagliari , spoke about his past and present: «Returning to Cagliari was my dream. I thank President Giulini who after 23 years has made all this possible, giving me an important role».

Before venturing into the chat, Muzzi wanted to highlight the work done by the entire Youth Sector and how this is allowing the training of each boy day after day, thanking the various workers such as Bernardo Mereu , Pierluigi Carta , Fabio Pisacane and all the staff of the Club . Among the salient topics of the evening there was certainly Primavera . Vinciguerra and his partners , on Saturday at the CRAI Sport Center , will find themselves facing league leaders Roma but the former striker is confident: «It will be tough but we are very focused. We would like to obtain an important result». Primavera who, after this day of the championship, on March 12 will take to the field again between friendly walls, to play the one-off semi-final of the Coppa Italia : «On Wednesday I hope to see the sports center full of fans, because these boys need all their support. We are aiming for the final, even if we know it will be tough. We will meet a great team like Juventus but I am confident, because we can reach a historic final for Cagliari Primavera ».

Being the technical coordinator of the Primavera and Under 18 , we couldn't help but ask him for an opinion on the coaches of the two teams: « Pisacane immediately proved to be a great coach, he is very good at communicating, he reads the games well and has this natural gift of making every boy he coaches grow a lot. He also managed many 2007, 2008 and 2009 players and always shows his qualities as a leader. Mancosu is maturing a lot with the U18. He still has to improve on some aspects and remember that he is no longer wearing the player's clothes, but he has a good base to work on».

The focus then shifted to the vision of modern football. According to Muzzi, today's football is different from the one played in his time. The new generations of footballers are in some ways more adult than the boys of the past, but having everything right away is not always beneficial to their development. Furthermore, if a young player is not considered ready by those in the know, they tend to be discarded, without giving them time to grow: "It is not difficult to find young Italians of quality, because there are so many around. But we are the ones who do not have the patience to wait for them and believe in them. In my day, perhaps, we expected more, today instead we expect them to be ready, especially as regards the physical aspect". Patience that, according to the rossoblù coordinator, is instead shown with the coaches: "Perhaps now we have more patience because we tend to plan together with the coach, while in my day they were sent away more easily".

In a nostalgic moment, Muzzi dusted off his fondest memory of when he wore the Cagliari jersey as a player: «I experienced many wonderful moments at Cagliari but perhaps the one that has remained closest to my heart was a Cagliari-Juventus under the guidance of mister Tabárez . We won 3-0 with goals from me, Oliveira and Dely Valdés . That Juventus had never been beaten that year and at the end of the championship they won the scudetto, but beating them was an immense satisfaction for us. We had achieved something that almost no one had achieved». But among the sweet notes of his past as a player there is certainly also the affection received from the public and Muzzi did not hide how much having so many fans supporting your team is still a winning card for those who play on the pitch: «I felt the embrace of the public at Sant'Elia , but now at Domus it has increased even more. The Cagliari fans push you to play the game and for the teams that come to play here it is always complicated».

As for current events, obviously a thought went to the challenge against the Grifone : «Tomorrow against Genoa we have to start strong and we have to fight to win it, as we have always done. In some games we managed to bring home the result, other times not, but I think that this Cagliari takes to the field every game with the right attitude». In closing Muzzi revealed who, from this season's squad, has impressed him the most: «The surprise of this year is probably Mattia Felici . He is growing a lot, he has great qualities. He skips the man well, we have to trust him, he is an important player and I am curious to see how far he can go».
