Richard Benson died at the age of 67 . British musician naturalized Italian, he was an exponent of Roman underground music in the 70s and a well-known and popular TV personality.

Benson had been struggling with cardiovascular diseases for years, the announcement of his death comes from the official Facebook page: “Dear friends - we read -, we must unfortunately give you the worst news possible. Richard fought like a lion again against death and unfortunately he didn't make it. He passed away. The last time, however, he told us: 'If I die, I die happy' ”.

A character shrouded in mystery from birth, claimed to have Anglo-Saxon origins and to be born in Woking, but there has never been any confirmation.

His performances in which he was insulted and hit by the spectators with all kinds of objects were memorable. In the seventies he made himself noticed in Roman clubs: on the musical level he did not enjoy great success, but he managed to earn guests and presentations in various radio and TV broadcasts, becoming an icon of Roman private broadcasters.

In 1990 he conducted a program on Radio Rock, then he performed live in Roman clubs becoming a real trash phenomenon , between simulated embraces on stage and injuries on the body.

"Mother torture" is the title of his first solo album, which was released in 1999. Two more will be released in 2015 and 2016, "Hell of the living" and "Duello madre". But his musical career continues without high pitches, Benson earns his living mainly from live performances and hosted on TV. In recent years he had fallen out of favor , so much so that his wife Ester had asked fans for financial aid.
