" Media and gender violence: critical aspects and potential " is the title of the course that the Region of Sardinia promotes in collaboration with the Order of Journalists of Sardinia and with Giulia Giornaliste Sardegna .
The initiative is part of the training offer of the project funded by the Department of Equal Opportunities, "SOStenere in Rete" , and of which the RAS is the lead body together with ARES Sardegna, UIEPE Cagliari and the University of Sassari.
The course includes the collaboration of the Anti- violence Centers (Association "Prospettiva Donna", Social Cooperative "Porta Aperta", Association "Donne al Traguardo") and Treatment Centers for Authors (CIPM Sardinia - Italian Center for the Promotion of Mediation and Restorative Justice and CAM North Sardinia - Maltratting Men Listening Center); starts on 13 September , with three modules of three days each scheduled until December.
The three modules, on a monthly basis, will have a duration of ten hours each and will be carried out in mixed mode : for each module two online meetings and the third, in the form of a laboratory, in person.
The course is aimed at professionals and information professionals aware of the importance, in today's society, of the impact of the media on the rational and emotional sphere of people and on the formation of opinions.
The focus of the course aims to offer food for thought and useful tools to increasingly improve a journalistic practice that is ethically oriented towards the essentiality of the facts and respect for the dignity of people; it also aims to develop a critical reflection on the logics of social modeling and signification typical of contemporary media with respect to the treatment of news and events related to the phenomenon of gender-based violence.
THE MODULES - The training follows an interactive and experiential approach , proposing case studies on the subject and exercises, individual and in small groups, to concretely experience the skills learned.
It foresees the production of a project-work for the International Day against Violence against Women , next November 25th .
