Contemporary circus art reclaims its space, invading squares, parks, archaeological sites, and suburbs. Everything is ready for the fourth edition of " Circondando ," the international traveling festival curated by Teatro Circo Maccus and directed by Virginia Viviano , which will also touch our island from June 26th to July 5th . Starting in Quartu Sant'Elena , the festival will pass through Quartucciu and Cagliari before heading north, landing in Terralba and Budoni : the program features breathtaking shows , live music , and workshops for all ages.

Building on the success of previous years and the unwavering support of the Region , the Fondazione di Sardegna , the Ministry of Culture , and the participating municipalities , the underlying theme of the upcoming edition will be " Archetypes ": fears, universal symbols, desires, and collective memories, explored not with words, but through the language of the acrobatic body, physical theater, and scenic interaction . And with international guests and first-time visitors, "Circondando" will begin on Friday .

The inaugural weekend

The inauguration on the 26th will be hosted at the Parodi Park in Flumini di Quartu , debuting at 6 pm with an absolute premiere , in the new production of the Circo Maccus " Kairos - The Journey of the Soul ", performed by Valentina Quargentan , Marina Lucia Nepote , Virginia Matta , Vinicius Ibanez and Violeta Ibanez under the direction of Viviano herself, in a representation of the archetype as an "invisible force" that passes through time and bodies. Following this, a concert by the Viterbo-based Orchestra Mütante Mysticanza : the travelling ensemble, born from an idea by Fabio Porroni , will accompany the numerous stages of the festival with the notes of gypsy jazz, Balkan rhythms, Middle Eastern melodies and Mediterranean sounds.

On Saturday 27th instead we will move to Piazza XXVIII Aprile in Quartu Città, reversing   The agenda for the day before: the Orchestra Mütante will open the dances at 9 pm , followed by a repeat of "Kairos". And on Sunday, the Spazio Maccus in Quartucciu will host the festival, combining the initiatives of " Le Sundayi Volanti ": starting at 6 pm , the program will include a circus theater workshop for families, the show " Espera " by the acclaimed Catalan company Circo Eia – combining acrobatic virtuosity and direct interaction with the audience, already winner of the MAX Award and the Catalan Critics' Award – and finally another show by the Orchestra Mütante , by reservation .

Until July 5th

Monday 29th will see another final day in Quartucciu, starting at 9am with the " Mano a Mano " workshop led by the artists of Circo Eia at Spazio Maccus , and then resuming at 6pm under the large trees of the Tomba dei Giganti , with another reproduction of "Kairos" and the fourth concert offered by the Orchestra Mütante. And after another morning appointment of the "Mano a Mano" workshop, on Tuesday evening we will arrive in Cagliari , where Piazza San Michele will be the backdrop for the Orchestra's concert and the repeat of " Espera ", starting at 9pm . The last meeting on Wednesday morning with the Circo Eia workshop, to finally bid farewell to the capital from the stage of the Lazzaretto with the Orchestra and "Kairos" on stage at 9pm .

On July 2nd, "Circondando" will arrive in the central square of Terralba , repeating the program of the previous evening in Cagliari at 7 pm . On Friday the 3rd , at the same time and in the same square , live music will precede the event, followed by "Espera". The final two days will see the final stop in Budoni , at the Pedra e Cupa space: on Saturday the 4th at 8 pm , the Orchestra Mütante and then "Kairos" will take to the stage one last time, while on Sunday the 5th it will be "Espera" who will bid farewell to the island audience at 10 pm , anticipating the closing party with sound accompaniment from the Orchestra.
