The advantage was clear right from the first sections: Mario Puddu (supported by Riformatori, UDC and Sardegna 20Venti) is once again mayor of Assemini. He defeated the challenger from the wide field Diego Corrias in the runoff, supported by M5s, Pd and Psi.

A revenge for Puddu: he had conquered the town hall in the center on the outskirts of Cagliari in June 2013. At the time he was the leading man of the 5 Star Movement in Sardinia. During his administration, attacks and complaints had multiplied, resulting in criminal investigations. The first instance conviction for abuse of office had cost him the renunciation of his candidacy for the 2019 Regionals.

The procedural events were resolved with a stalemate. And this afternoon, like ten years ago, the new mayor showed up on the streets of Assemini with a Cagliari shirt, signed by Gigi Riva.

"A shirt of joy," said Puddu, "it's the second time I've won, I'm happy and I use it."

Then a comment on the vote: «The important thing was to bring home the result. Low turnout? We have tried everything to attract the citizens, but we have not managed to do more than this ».

The first thing to do in his room in the Town Hall: "I don't have to make the people of Assemini who voted for us repent." Puddu was indicated by almost 57% of the voters who presented themselves to the polls for the ballot: they were 7,863, with a turnout of 34.29%.
