Pierpaolo Mura, a life in the ring: he won the Italian Gym Boxing title.

A passion born as a child, a career full of successes, and a dream pursued for five years, culminating in the Italian Gym Boxing title. This is the story of Pierpaolo Mura , born in 1970, who has just added a new milestone to his long boxing career in Sapri, climbing to the top step of the podium with Palestra Boxe San Michele, led by instructors Sergio Sabattino and Davide Allegrini.

His story in the ring began in 1980, when he was mentored in his first steps by Luciano Foddi, the master who taught him the fundamentals of boxing and who would remain a central figure in his sporting and personal life. Foddi passed away in 2021, but his teachings live on in his student's memories.

The first successes came in 1987, in Salerno, with the title of Italian Novice B Champion. Two years later, again in Salerno, Mura won the first division Italian amateur championship. Further titles in the same category followed, in Marcianise in 1993 and Verbania in 1994. In 1996, in Rome, he finished second in the national rankings.

In 1997, he turned professional, a career he completed in 2004 with a record of seven wins, seven losses, and one draw. It was a significant period, although, Mura says, personal issues prevented him from fully realizing his potential. In 2004, his competitive career ended, but not his relationship with boxing.

After years away from competition, Mura returns to test himself with Gym Boxing, a light-contact discipline that allows him to rediscover the thrill of the ring. Five years of training and determination culminated in the Sapri competition and the Italian title.

A victory with a special meaning, one that Mura dedicates to his wife Paola and his sons Victor and Yari, who have always been by his side. His thoughts also go to Luciano Foddi, his first coach, whom he credits with playing a fundamental role in his own journey.

"Thanks also go to Palestra Boxe San Michele, to instructors Sergio Sabattino and Davide Allegrini, and to Vigilanza Italpol, the company I work for, which allowed me to participate in the competition while balancing my professional commitments with my passion for the sport," says Mura: "My goal has been achieved. I've put the icing on my cake. A cake that began in 1980, made of training, sacrifices, victories and defeats, but above all, of people and bonds. This title crowns a life spent in the ring and a passion that has never faded."
