It is the day of the funeral of Piero Angela , who died three days ago at the age of 93.

The coffin has arrived in the Sala della Protomoteca del Campidoglio, in Rome, welcomed by the Capitoline councilor for Culture Miguel Gotor: the funeral home is open from 11.30 to 19 .

Then the funeral with a secular ceremony , as ordered by the same scientific popularizer.

“ My father always managed to unite while maintaining his views . In these days we have been surprised by messages, articles, filled not with pain but with love, a feeling that remains and that is transformed into value. And the values are eternal ”: this is how a moved Alberto Angela recalled his father.

“The last thing he said, the communiqué, with little strength, was my sister and I collected and transcribed. It was as if he were talking to his friends, he turned to his audience, to those who loved him ”, he continued in front of the coffin covered in red reds and surrounded by many crowns.

“He taught us many things, with books and programs, but also by example: in the last few days he taught me not to be afraid of death . His serenity really impressed me. He left satisfied, like when you get up after a dinner with friends, ”he added. "When he realized that the end had come he finished the broadcasts and the jazz record, speech to his family and the public, and then he left."

Again: “He seemed reserved but inside he had a fire. He will continue to live through books, broadcasts and records and in all those kids who seek excellence with sacrifice, in the researchers, in the people who seek to unite, who seek the beauty of nature and savor life. Hers is a legacy not physical but of attitude in life. He told us to do our part, and now I too will try to do mine ”, he concluded.
