The athlete from Oristano Stefano Oppo wins the final in the lightweight double rowing with Gabriel Soares at the Paris Olympics.
Oppo and Soares came first in the semi-final ahead of Greece and Norway, entering the final with the second fastest time overall. Only Ireland, winner of the other semi-final, did better.
The appointment with the decisive race for the medal is on Friday 2 August.
Oppo, born in 1994, won bronze in Tokyo 2020 in the lightweight rowing doubles with Pietro Ruta, while in Rio 2016 he reached fourth place.
