Orgosolo: Between Struggle and Resistance, the Film Festival Returns
The second edition kicks off from Thursday, September 10th to Sunday, September 13th. Guests include director Paolo Benvenuti, and a jury of inmates from Uta Prison will also award prizes.

The watchwords are perseverance and determination, and a healthy dose of courage. From Thursday to Sunday , the Orgosolo Film Festival - Cinema of denunciation, struggle, and resistance returns to the Barbagia town, now in its second edition.
There are 31 films in competition (two out of competition), plus a special screening. All this takes place over four intense days. The annual film festival, as is its mission, once again promotes films (by regional, national, and international directors) that aim to recognize the "social" value of filmmaking through denunciation, protest, and reflection that connect to a variety of genres.
The Festival's special guest will be Paolo Benvenuti, a nationally renowned director, who will hold a masterclass on Sunday, September 13th, including a screening of his controversial film Segreti di Stato (State Secrets). "A valuable encounter," the organizers say, "with one of the most rigorous and challenging filmmakers in Italian cinema, perfectly in tune with the Orgosolo Film Festival's focus on films of protest, struggle, and resistance."
Orgosolo, with its history of resistance and protest, becomes the ideal stage for an event that reflects the ferment and struggle for freedom and justice, through cinema.
"This edition is enriched with new collaborations and initiatives. We began with a screening of films selected by the festival and screened in July, which attracted good audience participation and a subsequent debate, highlighting the Orgosolo community's interest in topics of common concern. New for this edition: the festival extends beyond the confines of Uta prison, with a jury of inmates awarding the Tziulai prize," remarked Paolo Carboni , artistic director of the festival together with Daniele Gaglianone.
In short, the festival is growing and enriching thanks to the collaboration and affection of the people of Orgosolo, as well as the support of the municipal administration, the Sardinia Region, and the Fondazione di Sardegna. We have organized film workshops with children from Orgosolo schools , who will present their productions on the final evening. We have also established an audience jury, which will award a prize, and established a valuable partnership with Amnesty International Italia, which is hosting an exhibition.
"We've reached the second edition of the festival. Some might think it's "just" the second edition, but promoting culture, especially in this historical moment rife with threatening tensions, is an important and difficult battle," says director and documentary maker Daniele Gaglianone, "so we're already in our second edition. It's crucial for the festival to have a community behind it that supports and nurtures it."
