Only 5 wins in 18 games, 7 draws (including five consecutive) and 6 defeats . And only five points won, out of the 15 available, in the last five games.

These are the numbers of Cagliari's disappointing start to the season in the 2022-2023 Serie B championship, plus 23 goals conceded (against 21 scored).

Statistics (and performance) in hand, the club has therefore decided to try to reverse the course by changing the helmsman: via Liverani with Claudio Ranieri in pole position for the replacement.

The goal is to get back on track from the current situation, which sees the Sardinians in 14th place with 22 points, 14 less than leaders Frosinone.

The rossoblù's path had already become complicated on the third day, with the first defeat against Spal, which was followed by the knockout at home against Bari and, again at home, the heavy 4-0 suffered by Venice.

Another slip-up against Ascoli, before a string of draws and a new defeat against Ternana.

The victory with Perugia bringing up the rear had given some oxygen, but the last match against Palermo, won 2-1 by the rosanero, definitively undermined the trust of the club in the Roman coach.

And now we're looking ahead, to try to straighten out the season with a new technical guide.
