Nuoro celebrates the “myth” of the Sassari Brigade: major exhibition at the Polifunzionale in via Roma

Like the whole Island, Nuoro also gave its contribution of men and many young lives during the First World War. Including that of the then mayor Michele Papandrea, who renounced his position and died in the ranks of the "Sassari" in the first battle of the "Tre Monti" at Col d'Echele, on the Asiago plateau, on January 28, 1918.
The city, thanks to the local section of the Lions, pays homage to the legendary brigade with a double event . Wednesday 5 March in the morning at the gardens of Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, where Second Lieutenant Mauro Gigli, gold medal for Military Valor, will be remembered. The honor guard, the trumpeter of the Sassari Brigade will be present and there will be a flag-raising ceremony. In the square there will also be information points for the various weapons.
