A photographic art that both conceals and reveals, turning the pages of life with a confessional yet mysterious spirit: this is " Secret Pages ", an exhibition dedicated to the influential and controversial Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki , on display until October 17 at the Pinacoteca Carlo Contini in Oristano , as part of the Dromos Festival . Curated by Sonia Borsato , the exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 8 pm, while on Saturday and Sunday there are two shifts from 9 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 8 pm .

Dedicated to the theme " Secrets ," chosen this year for Dromos, one hundred and twenty-two photographs from the Molinas Balata Collection have been brought together in an elegant selection that will traverse some of the most significant territories for Araki's art. Desire, intimacy, sensuality, and life, but also memory, loss, melancholy, and death, in a narrative that is both fragmented and coherent, like the glimpsed pages of a private diary, never offering answers, but only apparent opposites: delicacy and transgression characterize flowers, bodies, everyday details, female presences, and suspended visions , amidst allusions, silences, and sudden revelations.

Araki's photography was born from a profoundly artistic idea of art , with which he universalized his personal experience in a collective tale of the imperturbable flow of life: and this is also thanks to the controversial and radical side of his research dedicated to eroticism and sexuality, in images inspired by the traditional practice of "kinbaku" , with a provocative force that has consecrated the Japanese photographer on the international scene.

Born in Tokyo in 1940, Nobuyoshi Araki has authored over five hundred photography books and developed his own artistic practice, " I-Photography ," which is autobiographical and aims to transform everyday life, affections, relationships, and the passage of time into narrative material. His works are held in the collections of some of the most important museums in the world, including the Tate Modern in London, the MoMA in San Francisco , the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam , and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago .
