"There's no open wound with Cagliari, but after a deep reflection by President Giulini, we agreed that there were different ideas and, when that happens, it's better to be human and take different paths."
Thus Davide Nicola returned to his farewell to Cagliari , during the press conference to present his new adventure, on the Cremonese bench .
The coach, after mentioning in passing his experience in Sardinia and the team's survival last season, confirmed his intention to look ahead: "Now," he explained, "there's Cremonese's history, which must be written. I'd like to ambitiously write the story of their tenure in Serie A."
"I'm highly motivated," Nicola continued, "for two simple reasons: the great humility and determination with which I was sought out, and the pleasant discovery of a reality I'd only known from the outside but had never experienced from the inside. Here, there are structures, ideas, and potential that have been built over time, and the professionals are very serious. I act according to my feelings, my emotions, when I feel my skin tingling."
"We know a tough championship awaits us," Nicola continued, "and that we'll have to evaluate various aspects with the director and the owners. For now, I've asked them not to make any changes, because in these ten days I want to meet with the players I have available to coach and understand their potential. I'd like to build in a thoughtful, humble, and progressively ambitious way, together with the people who have welcomed me so warmly. The first step," the coach concluded, "must be the mad desire to stay in the division."
