The "Venus of rags", in Piazza Municipio in Naples, was completely destroyed by a fire that broke out at dawn. Investigations by firefighters and municipal police are underway to trace the causes of the blaze.

The installation, created by the artist Michelangelo Pistoletto, was engulfed in flames between 5.13 and 5.30 this morning, as evidenced by the many videos posted on social networks by passers-by and taxi drivers.

Only the metal structure was saved.
