One week at the end of the summer transfer market session. And Cagliari, having resolved the left-back issue with the arrival of Antonio Barreca, will now have to think about streamlining the squad with the loan of some young players. But it will be seven days in which the name of Nahitan Nandez will continue to bounce, alongside those teams that, from now until 20 on September 1st, will have to solve their market problems. Even if the president Tommaso Giulini is not willing to make heavy transfers in extremis.

Push and pull

On Sunday Nandez played his first game as a starter in this start of the season, Liverani pampers him, but the future remains to be written. "He has a 90% chance of staying in Cagliari," explained the Rossoblu sporting director Capozucca in recent days. But for the Uruguayan midfielder technical and economic issues intersect, because his sale would definitively fix the club's accounts, which in case of permanence would have a higher category midfield, but would also have a player with a very heavy engagement and with the contract expiring in 2024 and without opening for a possible renewal.

Giallorossi sunset

Also for this reason, when Roma made a survey in the search for the replacement of the injured Wijnaldum, Cagliari was careful not to close the door. On the contrary. Because a player he likes as much as 2003 forward Felix Afena-Gyan could be included in the operation. That Cagliari would have paid 7 million euros, deducting them from the 15 requested for Nandez and obtaining, perhaps, 6 million plus 2 more bonuses. A drawing, however, remained on paper. Because Nandez does not really have the characteristics of Wijnaldum and, above all, because Roma are looking for a replacement on a free transfer or who arrives on loan. While Cagliari would let their Leon leave only permanently or with a loan obligation. Not to mention that then Felix will end up at the Cremonese.

Other tracks

Having said goodbye to Roma and the possibility of playing in the Europa League, Turin would remain in theory for Nandez and, above all, Napoli with the Champions League. In the grenade Juric would be happy to have a player as good as the Uruguayan, but the president Urbano Cairo does not seem willing to get the money requested by Cagliari. Nahitan's dream remains Napoli, but here too we have to wait for the future of Fabian Ruiz to be defined, admitted and not granted that Aurelio De Laurentiis reaches the figures requested by his colleague Giulini. Who, as has already happened in the past, could however decide, with so little time to replace an excellent starter, to close his eyes and ears, postponing any speech to January.

Waiting for Barreca

Meanwhile, yesterday in Asseminello a day of cards and phone calls. Because Barreca's future is tinged with rossoblù (contract until 2025 with an option for another year in favor of Cagliari), but the present is all a series of bureaucratic requirements required by an operation between different federations. Barreca must first of all terminate the contract with Monaco, and then join the rossoblùs. Yesterday he was only able to meet Liverani and talk to some of the new teammates, but only after the signing will he be able to start training.

Output

In the meantime, Salvatore Boccia's move to Turris has been defined and will be made official next week. Cagliari is also looking for accommodation for Paolo Faragò and is evaluating loan proposals for Desogus and Kourfalidis, who are likely to stand by, given the very limited space.
