Marc Márquez, riding a Ducati, won the Austrian MotoGP Grand Prix. The championship leader took the win in the second half of the race, after starting from the second row following yesterday's qualifying.
The Spaniard, earning his first win in the long race at the Red Bull Ring, crossed the finish line ahead of his compatriot Fermin Aldeguer (Ducati Gresini) and Marco Bezzecchi , who had started from pole position. The Italian, third on the podium with Aprilia, battled with Marc Márquez until halfway through the race but then had to give up.
Fourth place went to Pedro Acosta on his KTM. Francesco Bagnaia, on the other factory Desmosedici, finished only eighth . Also scoring points in Austria were Enea Bastianini (fifth on his KTM Tech3), Joan Mir (sixth on his Honda), and Brad Binder (seventh on his factory KTM). Ninth place went to Raúl Fernández (Aprilia-Trackhouse).
Today's victory is Marc Márquez's sixth consecutive World Championship victory, with as many sprint-GP doubles: a record . The championship leader extends his lead in the standings, thanks to his brother Álex's tenth-place finish and Bagnaia's eighth, who now trail him at an almost unbridgeable distance. Reigning world champion Jorge Martín is still unlucky, suffering a crash that left him unharmed.
