It is one of the instruments that in the 20th century had superlative interpreters who were also legendary figures: from Louis Armstrong to Miles Davis passing through Chet Baker. Now the trumpet becomes the protagonist of an event that in a week will propose masterclasses with international level teachers and free concerts open to the public between Argentiera and Alghero .
The International Trumpet Holidays organized by the Sardinian Music Association, a new organization formed by a group of young Sardinian musicians, will open on the 2nd in the Sassari village of Argentiera.
The event, which will last until September 8, has attracted registrations for the masterclass from all over the world , from China to the USA, from Japan to Portugal, thanks to the prestige of its teachers: the Englishman Mark David, first trumpet in the Philharmonia Orchestra for over 20 years, currently first trumpet at the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and the Belgian Jeroen Berwaertz, teacher at the Hochschule für Musik in Hannover and at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
There are four concerts planned: Tuesday 3 September at 6:30 pm at the Villa Las Tronas hotel in Alghero with the teachers of the masterclass together with the trumpeters Jasmin Ghera and Giacomo Pinna, accompanied on the piano by Michele Nurchis, with music by Charlier, Debussy, Wright and Bohme on the program. Wednesday 4 at 9:30 pm at the Argentiera there is a jam session with the Fabrizio Fresu Quartet, formed by Fabrizio Fresu (trumpet), Andrea Budroni (keyboards), Alessio Concas (bass) and Federico Pintus (drums). On 6 and 7 September from 7 pm in the same location the recitals of the 15 students enrolled in the masterclass will close the events.
