After the rumors and half-admissions, now there is also the official statement: Marko Rog and Cagliari do not leave and, indeed, double, with a contract that will expire no longer in 2024, but in 2026.
The Croatian midfielder, as well as his friend and teammate Pavoletti previously, agreed to spread the salary he would have received in the next two seasons out of four years. A way to confirm his bond with the rossoblù club, which waited for him for almost two years, after the double break of the crusader, which made him miss half of the 2020-21 season and a good part of the last championship.
Rog, who in the previous weeks had been sought by Salernitana and above all Sampdoria, will therefore remain in the rossoblù, hoping to make himself available to Liverani as soon as possible and give his contribution for the return to A.
After the renewal until 2026, Marko Rog has entrusted his thoughts to the official channels of Cagliari. "I am happy for the renewal, there is a good team and together we will try to bring Cagliari back to where they deserve to be". Rog admits contacts with other clubs: “It's true, there was some chance in Serie A, but I felt like I was staying for everything I've been through, I feel indebted. We are all sorry for how it ended, but this is the past. We have to look ahead, so I hope to start the season well to have a different spirit and show that we have forgotten what happened ”.
The Croatian confides in Liverani: “The coach has clear ideas, he has always hoped for me to stay and this makes me happy. We must be united to get where we want and where Cagliari deserves ”.
The marriage continues: “This is my fourth year in Cagliari and it looks like I will stay there again. I'm fine here, from the first year I realized that people love me and I thank them for being close to me after the injury and after the relegation. I hope they will be at our side again this year ”.
