Mariuccia Gattu Soddu, the teacher who described Orune in her anthropologically flavored stories, passed away this morning at the Nuoro hospital. He was 84 years old.

Long retired, in 1993 he had begun to write stories related to his native town in Sardinian, recounting the metamorphoses that over the years had changed the rhythms and existence of a rural community.

Generous in the wise use of the Sardinian language, used to describe the agro-pastoral world in which she had lived in her youth, Mariuccia Gattu, this was her maiden name, had maintained a close relationship with her community and with the town where she often went, before illness prevented him.

Author of publications such as Sardinia of other times for women, Memories of Sardinia: Orune in the heart and in history; Sardegna In Giallo: Orune between history, legend and superstition. Dall'Isola al Continente is his latest work released last November in bookstores.
