Cagliari enjoys it and, in the Italian Cup, beats Udinese 2-1 in extra time with a last-minute flash from the rediscovered Lapadula.

Ranieri revolutionizes the team, with the return of Radunovic between the posts, defense with Di Pardo, Wieteska, Hatzidiakos and Azzi, Makoumbou and Sulemana in midfield and Petagna up front, with the support of Oristanio, Shomurodov and Jankto. Cagliari dominates the pitch, against an Udinese team that shows obvious technical and tactical limitations. Di Pardo's match lasts 17 minutes due to a muscle problem and Zappa comes on in his place . Oristanio confirms his excellent moment and comes close to scoring in the 13th minute (out) and especially in the 20th minute, when all alone in front of Okoye he is stopped by the Friulian goalkeeper. And Okoye still has to intervene twice more on Oristanio and above all Shomurodov, well served by Petagna. At the other end, Radunovic remained inactive, but the first half ended goalless.

The second half started with Obert replacing Jankto, but Udinese started better, with Lucca first scoring, but offside, and then challenging Radunovic, who saved himself with the help of the crossbar from the header 'former Ajax (5'). And in the 18th minute the omelette is served: Azzi gives away a corner, cross from Thauvin, Sulemana loses his man and Guessand unlocks it. At the half hour mark Oristanio, Azzi and Shomurodov leave, Pereiro, Viola and above all Lapadula come on, returning after ankle surgery. And in the 35th minute Viola thinks again about bringing the score back to parity: a free kick from the right, no one touches it and the ball goes into the net. Cagliari closes in attack, but Lapadula and Viola's final attempts are blocked and qualification is entrusted to extra time.

Cagliari controls the game and when penalties seem certain, here is the winning shot in the 14th minute: counterattack by Petagna, assist for Lapadula and the striker certifies his return with the qualifying goal. Deiola and Lapadula fail to score a trio in added time, but that's it.
