The goal is only one: to promote religious tourism. A preparatory protocol was signed in Laconi for the establishment of the Franciscan Path Foundation in Sardinia.

"The Region has launched a planning process for the creation of a cultural-religious tourism chain, identifying a competitive tourist product in the paths, in the pilgrimage destinations, in the Franciscan itineraries and, more generally, in the spiritual itineraries", he said the regional councilor for tourism, Gianni Chessa, on the occasion of the meeting.

"We want to enhance - he added - under the cultural, naturalistic, religious and identity profile, the localities characterized by the presence of the Franciscans and by the important sites for the history of Franciscanism in Sardinia, so as to offer an intimate and authentic experience to discover places culturally and spiritually unique.

Laconi, led by Mayor Salvatore Argiolas, is the lead municipality of the foundation. Then joined Alghero, Bosa, Cagliari, Castelsardo, Cuglieri, Fonni, Gesturi, Luogosanto, Mores, Iglesias, Oristano, Pula, Sanluri, Sassari, Sorso and the Franciscan bodies "Santa Maria delle Grazie dei Frati Minor", "Friars Minor Conventual of Italy” and “Friars Minor Capuchin of Sardinia and Corsica”.

«The Franciscan places of Sardinia offer structures used for hospitality and architectural and artistic peculiarities of monasteries and sanctuaries, often immersed in splendid landscape scenarios - concludes Chessa -. Now we have to consolidate the project, to insert the itineraries within the national and international networks, generating a quality tourist offer that is able to attract important flows».
