Moments of genuine terror in flight for Elton John.
The private jet on which the famous pop star was flying from England to New York had a hydraulic failure and was forced to attempt an emergency landing, reversing the route and heading towards Farnborough airport, located about an hour south of London.
The storm Franklin, which raged over the area, with gusts of wind at over 130 km per hour, however, made the maneuvers very difficult, to the point of fear of the worst.
“The violent gusts made landing nearly impossible,” an eyewitness told The Sun. “The plane was hit by the wind and didn't make it. The nose of the plane was too vertical. The plane was descending and was halfway down the runway when it gave up landing and regained altitude. "
The pilot then decided to get back up and approach for further attempts, while the emergency crew, including fire and rescue support, were preparing to land.
On the second landing attempt, the strong wind caused the jet to swing dangerously, preventing the maneuver again. Only on the third attempt, Elton John's jet landed safely.
