The jazz song of the lark. Wednesday at 9:30 pm, the Porto Vecchio in Stintino hosts "Skylark," a project by the Blue Note Jazz Ensemble , as part of the Stintino Jazz&Classica 2026 festival.
Taking to the stage will be Mariano Tedde on piano, who also composed the arrangements, Giovanni Sanna Passino on trumpet, Massimo Carboni on alto saxophone, Elias Lapia on tenor saxophone, Gavino Mele on horn, Nicola Muresu on double bass, and Luca Piana on drums.
The project originated from a workshop that began in 2008 as a quintet and later expanded to become the current group. The repertoire spans different eras of jazz history and includes some standards particularly dear to the ensemble members. The compositions are reinterpreted through arrangements that alter their perspectives, sound, and structure to the point of making them almost original pieces.
Alongside the classics, there's "Out of Fashion Reloaded ," a waltz composed for quintet by trumpeter Giovanni Sanna Passino and presented in a new arrangement, along with "Z24 ," an original composition by Mariano Tedde. Skylark is also produced by JazzOp Records, the label of the Associazione Blue Note Orchestra - Orchestra Jazz della Sardegna. The Stintino concert will thus offer audiences a journey between memory and reinvention, in which jazz tradition becomes the starting point for new, personal, and shared writing.
