Worker dies after being hit by a train on the Bologna-Venice line: traffic jams, delays and cancellations
The man is an employee of a contractor that was working on behalf of Rfi, investigations underwayA tragedy and a new accident that affects the Italian railway network: a worker from an external contractor who was working on behalf of Rfi died this morning after being hit by a train along the Bologna-Venice line.
Rete Ferroviaria Italiana itself made the announcement, expressing its condolences and closeness to the family.
The dynamics of what happened, the company writes in a note, "is being examined by the competent authorities, to whom Rfi is offering the fullest collaboration. From an initial reconstruction, for reasons yet to be ascertained, at the time of the accident the technician would have moved outside the area affected by the work. Checks are also underway by Rfi".
Rail traffic suspended, due to the accident, on the Bologna - Venice line between Castelmaggiore and S.Pietro in Casale, and therefore new transport chaos after the one that occurred in recent days. The Italian State Railways announce that High Speed, Intercity and regional trains may be subject to deviations, route limitations and cancellations.
Deep condolences for what happened also from the deputy prime minister and minister Matteo Salvini, who "is following the developments of what happened with extreme attention, starting from the verification of the dynamics of the facts".
