The Carabinieri arrested the man who allegedly stabbed a 43-year-old woman in Piazza Gae Aulenti, Milan.
The man— Vincenzo Lanni, 59, already known to law enforcement for violent incidents —had been caught on video surveillance cameras and was identified from a photo released by law enforcement by his sister. He was then tracked down a few hours later at a hotel.
The victim was stabbed with a kitchen knife while walking to the office. She was taken to Niguarda Hospital in serious condition and underwent emergency surgery.
The attacker, however, fled, sparking a manhunt throughout the city , and was later located in a hotel near the Central Station.
From an initial reconstruction, no links have emerged between the victim and the attacker , who was found to be the author of a similar episode in 2015, when he injured two elderly people in the Bergamo area.
