Valentina Boscaro, 32, was released from prison and will serve her sentence under house arrest, with an electronic bracelet. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison in the second degree in June for the murder of her boyfriend, Mattia Caruso.

The decision - local newspapers report - was taken by the District Review Court, to which the Court of Cassation had sent the documents at the request of the defense.

The appeal for release from prison was motivated by the woman's need to care for her minor daughter. Boscaro will not be able to use a smartphone or computer and will only be able to communicate with his immediate family. All this while waiting for the sentence to become final, before the Supreme Court.

Boscaro stabbed Caruso to death in the man's car in a parking lot in Albignasego (Padua) in September 2022. The murder weapon, a switchblade, was found cleaned of blood in a pocket of his jacket . The woman confessed after a few days and said she had acted at the height of an argument and continuous mistreatment by the man.
