A life sentence and a 28-year prison sentence. This is what the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Rome decided for Marco Bianchi and his brother Gabriele, who were granted mitigating circumstances, for the murder of Willy Monteiro Duarte killed on the night between September 5 and 6, 2020 in Colleferro, a town in the province of the Capital.

The sentence came at the end of the second appeal ordered by the Court of Cassation limited to the recognition of mitigating circumstances while criminal responsibility for the murder had already become final.

"The sentences will not give us Willy back," said Lucia, the victim's mother. "I hope these boys appreciate the fact that they are alive with a family that can see them and hear their voice. All we have left of Willy is a photograph and his voice is just a distant memory. I hope the Bianchi brothers learn to respect others and to make sure that another family does not experience what we experienced."
