A "barge", a transport boat of the Venetian lagoon, full of the infamous "wheeled benches", destined to be disposed of in landfills. An image spread yesterday by many users of Venetian social networks, and which today ended up in the newspapers setting off a real storm.

The decision to get rid of the benches was a high school in the historic center of the lagoon, the "Benedetti-Tommaseo", which had bought them a year ago, at the time of the national contract. In recent days, given the impossibility of using them, the manager called a bulky waste treatment company, which yesterday carried out the transport.

The story has become a starting point for heated controversy in the local political class: the attack of the Northern League deputy Alex Bazzaro on the former Minister of Education Lucia Azzolina and on the former Covid commissioner Domenico Arcuri.

When asked by the Venetian newspapers, Azzolina replied irritably: "Ask the schools - she says, referring to the reporter - who wanted and asked for the desks. The questions you are asking me indicate that you are a deeply uninformed person. The matter has been told. urbi et orbi, and I no longer have the desire to answer. I don't have to explain it to him, he has to go to the schools and ask. It's a tragedy that you still ask these questions. "
