"I loved her, I wanted her for myself, I couldn't accept that it was over."

Filippo Turetta said this yesterday to the prosecutor, during the nine-hour interrogation in which the young man who confessed to the murder of Giulia Cecchettin had to reconstruct step by step everything that happened on the evening of the crime, but also in the days preceding and in the week of escape to Germany.

“I have lost my mind,” said the young man, who also stated that he wanted to “pay and serve the sentence for my responsibility for a terrible murder” .

Giulia Cecchettin's funeral has been scheduled for today. The last farewell to the girl will be given on Tuesday 5 December at 11am, with the funeral ceremony in the Basilica of Santa Giustina in Padua . We can read it in the epigraphs already posted this morning in Vigonovo, Giulia's town. The authorization from the Prosecutor's Office to release the room to the family, after yesterday's autopsy, is expected in these hours.

Santa Giustina is a church capable of hosting thousands of people , overlooking Prato della Valle, a vast square that allows many to follow the ceremony, on large screens, even outside the basilica.

«Your smile is the most beautiful gift, your love is a message for the world» , we read in the epigraph. At the end of the funeral rite in Padua, a moment of prayer is scheduled at 2.00 pm in the parish church of Saonara (Padua), the town of origin of Giulia's family.
