Fire in the tunnel on the A12 , with cars queuing for hours and kilometre-long queues on the motorway. The accident occurred this morning around 11 on the Genoa-Sestri Levante, in the stretch between Lavagna and Sestri Levante.
The Ligurian motorway network has been cut in half for nine hours , with traffic closed in both directions to allow for inspections on the way to the tunnel. Over ten kilometres of tailbacks are reported on the Aurelia between Chiavari and Sestri Levante.
Aspi advises those traveling towards Livorno after the mandatory exit at Chiavari, where there is a 9 km queue, to take the ordinary road and return to Sestri Levante. Water is being distributed to motorists in the queue.
