Tragedy has struck Cava de' Tirreni, in the Salerno area, where a 40-year-old woman died after being stabbed by her partner. The femicide occurred this afternoon. After the attack, the man jumped out of a window, committing suicide.

Confirmation comes from Cava de' Tirreni's mayor, Vincenzo Servalli, who reconstructed the circumstances of the tragedy in a social media post. "He killed his partner, a well-known Cava businesswoman, injured her mother, and committed suicide by jumping from the building where the tragedy occurred, on Via Ragone," the mayor wrote, saying he was "on the scene, shocked by what happened."

The man died instantly after jumping. The woman, however, died a few hours later in the hospital: she had already appeared to be in critical condition when first rescued.
