A crime scene redrawn using laser scanners and drones : this is the objective that, eighteen years after the Garlasco crime, brought the Carabinieri of the RIS back to the villa on Via Pascoli , delegated by the Pavia Public Prosecutor's Office as part of the new investigation into the murder of Chiara Poggi which sees Andrea Sempio under investigation.
Thanks to the latest techniques, the military of the Arma have returned to analyze every centimeter of the house, including the floor, the walls and the stairs to the basement, where the body of the victim was found. With the Carabinieri of the RIS of Cagliari , in the presence of the commander, Lieutenant Colonel Andrea Berti, were also present the colleagues of the Investigative Nucleus of Milan, the lawyer Angela Taccia, who defends Andrea Sempio, and the criminologist Dario Redaelli for the Poggis.
The technique used was that of "triangulation", a specific method foreseen in the context of "Bloodstain Pattern Analysis" that allows to reconstruct the dynamics of the murder through the study of the drops of blood and the stains that derive from them . An activity that at the time of the crime had not been carried out.
The Carabinieri have triangulated all the traces found and collected in 2007 , including on the right wall of the stairs where, according to a recent fingerprint analysis ordered by the Pavia prosecutors, the now well-known fingerprint 33 attributed to Sempio was found .
At the end of the inspection, lawyer Angela Taccia, one of Andrea Sempio's two lawyers, who was present, tried to clarify its meaning: «Today's inspection - she said - was aimed at triangulating the traces, it was used precisely to understand how to best position the traces and the blood stains» at the crime scene.
Thanks to digital techniques, distances and measurements are calculated to the millimeter . Measurements and relationships, all in 3D, which "will allow the crime scene to be updated in light of new technologies", argued Redaelli, consultant to the Poggi family. "These traces had already been analyzed in previous investigations, but it was a question of putting them in a new relationship thanks to digital technologies" , added the lawyer Taccia.
Thanks to the work of the Carabinieri, it will be possible to observe, and therefore evaluate, the positioning of the traces and footprints. The new three-dimensional model will then be used to provide a possible reinterpretation of the dynamics of the crime based on the latest technologies. The Carabinieri of the Ris of Cagliari have asked the Pavia prosecutor's office, which has entrusted them, 60 days to provide answers to all three questions requested, namely three-dimensional mapping of the villa, repositioning of the photos of the time and reinterpretation of the dynamics of the crime based on the results obtained and the new technologies.
"A bitter surprise" for the victim's parents, Rita and Giuseppe , who continued to live in that house, because the inspection decree - observed the family's lawyers, Gian Luigi Tizzoni and Francesco Compagna - "was made immediately available to the press and not to them, the people offended by the crime".
"At the moment we do not know what the purpose of these further checks is, which would appear to overlap with the investigations already carried out by the expert in the cross-examination between the parties in the proceedings against Alberto Stasi", commented the lawyers of the Poggi family.
«With a view to revisiting and investigating the dynamics of the murder - is the opinion of the lawyers of Alberto Stasi , Chiara's boyfriend who was definitively sentenced for her death at 16 - this is a fundamental step and welcome, because, even if it is true that it had already been done, some data was certainly missing and I imagine that therefore we want to have all of it in order to be able to do an even more in-depth analysis».
