The case of Paola Bolognesi , a 61-year-old former volleyball player, teacher and volleyball coach who died on the night between 23 and 24 December in Bagnacavallo , in the Ravenna area, has become a mystery.

The Ravenna Prosecutor's Office unexpectedly stopped the funeral, scheduled for yesterday, and ordered an autopsy on the woman's body. Her husband, 55-year-old Miguel Soto, a man of Cuban origin with whom Bolognesi had been together for years, is under investigation at large for murder . Mobile phones were seized to further the investigation.

The woman had a heart problem and had also booked surgery on a heart valve. For this reason, the cause of death was initially traced back to an illness. But when bruises were found on the body, prosecutor Raffaele Belvedere had the funeral postponed and ordered an autopsy to dispel any doubts. Bruises that could not be traced back to a fall, given that the 61-year-old was found lifeless in her bed.

«That evening at 10pm I was already asleep, when Paola came home I didn't notice. On the morning of the 24th I heard the alarm that kept ringing, it was around 7 . I went to see what had happened, Paola was on her back, with one arm stretched out of bed", the man's story reported by the newspaper Il Resto del Carlino.
