The fugitive of Massimo Gigliotti , the 'Ndrangheta member wanted for five years, ended in Barranquilla, on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, after the precautionary custody order issued by the Court of Cagliari.
The measure was part of the Ichnos operation , which had led to the arrest of fifteen people: according to what had emerged, in the investigations of the Carabinieri of the operational unit of the Carbonia company, rivers of cocaine would have arrived in Sardinia via Calabrian traffickers based in the provinces of Rome and Milan, and of heroin coming from an Albanian criminal group .
The searches continued over the years, until Gigliotti's stay in a hotel in Barranquilla came to light, which led to the deployment of a Colombian Interpol device in the coastal city. It was the meeting between the fugitive and a lawyer in a local shopping center that gave rise to the arrest. Once identified, he provided a false identity document , with his photo but with the name Pedro Javier Zambrano Pulido, which he used to travel around Colombia.
