A phone call plunged a family from Bergamo into a nightmare. Father and mother had just returned home from Pope John XXIII hospital with their children, a pair of twins - male and female - born a few days earlier, when they received the call asking them to verify the names on the bracelets of the children. Only then did they realize that they had looked after the baby of another couple. They rushed to the hospital and were able to hug the "right" daughter, as well as the other couple of new parents.

A case that, albeit with a happy ending, leaves a certain disturbance, so much so that the health facility has set up an internal commission to shed light on what happened. The territorial socio-sanitary company has issued a note in which it publicly apologizes to the families involved and speaks of an "exceptional situation, never previously occurred in our birthplace". At the basis of the error is the "failure to comply with the procedure in place, which provides for the verification of the identification bracelets of the mother / newborn couple upon arrival of the child in the mother's hospital room after passing through the nursery". Error favored "by the fact that the girls were born a few hours apart, with similar weight and a very similar clinical history".
