Student stabbed in Milan: attacker gets 20 years. The victim, who was left disabled, hugs him.
The verdict for the attempted murder of 22-year-old Donato Cavallo. The co-defendant received a ten-month sentence for failure to provide assistance.

Alessandro Chiani , on trial for attempted murder and robbery of 50 euros against Davide Cavallo , a student who was seriously injured, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a fast-track trial.
A brutal beating that dates back to last October 12th in Corso Como, Milan, outside a nightlife nightclub, following which the 22-year-old suffered permanent injuries.
Co-defendant Ahmed Atia, acquitted of the robbery, was sentenced to 10 months and 20 days for failure to provide assistance and was released from prison. The decision was made by Milan preliminary hearing judge Alberto Carboni.
Before the deliberation, Davide Cavallo asked the judge if he could approach and hug the two defendants . He did so. The three also spoke at length. At the end of the hearing, Cavallo left, escorted by his parents, and declined to speak.
