Struck by lightning on the beach, a 70-year-old man was saved by rescuers. His heart restarted after about 30 minutes thanks to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) , and his circulation resumed spontaneously.

It happened in Piombino, in the province of Livorno, on the Ponte d'Oro beach , which has been hit by bad weather in recent hours.

Thanks to the rescue maneuvers, the North West Tuscany Local Health Authority (ASL) reports, the patient began breathing again and his heart started beating again. Rescuers then transferred him to the Siena hospital, where the elderly man was admitted.
