The woman had left the marital home due to the constant mistreatment, last night she returned and the crime was committedA 53-year-old man stabbed his 38-year-old wife of Brazilian origins to death during the night in the home where the couple lives . The crime took place in Montemaggiore al Metauro (Pesaro and Urbino) in front of the couple's three minor children, who desperately tried to help their mother .
The man, Ezio Di Levrano, a driver by profession, was stopped by the Carabinieri.
The victim, Ana Cristina Duarte, had left the house because of the violence suffered by her husband, but had not wanted to file a complaint . Last night, without notifying the police, she returned home after her husband had reported her abandonment of the marital home on September 2.
Tracked down by the Carabinieri, on September 2 the woman had declared the violence she had suffered but had refused to file a complaint. She had explained that she was a continuous victim of her husband's violence, and for this reason she had decided to distance herself from him without reporting him .
The Carabinieri, however, immediately presented a crime report, forwarding it to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Pesaro, which activated the 'Red Code'. The Judicial Authority delegated the woman's hearing, "with the intent of ascertaining the reasons that had led her not to want to file a complaint for all the criminal conduct suffered over time".
Last night, after the woman had returned to her home, without notifying the police, a sudden argument broke out, in the presence of her three children aged 6, 12 and 14, at the height of which the man stabbed the woman several times, hitting her in the abdomen .
Due to the severity of her injuries, the woman was transferred by helicopter to the Torrette civil hospital in Ancona, where she later died. The intervention of the Carabinieri of the Fano Company, alerted by neighbors awakened by the screams of the victim, allowed them to track down the man who was hiding, in the dark, in a nearby lot . The murder weapon, a switchblade, was seized.
The fifty-four-year-old was taken to the "Villa Fastiggi" prison in Pesaro, awaiting the hearing to validate the arrest, which will be set shortly by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Pesaro.
