Over six tons of fireworks were seized in an operation by the Turin financial police, which led to the discovery of eight deposits of pyrotechnic material stored illegally and destined for the celebrations of the upcoming Christmas holidays.

The sale would have allowed revenues of over 1 million euros.

The deposits were discovered in the Parella district, in Turin and in Avigliana, Caselle Torinese, Moncalieri, Nichelino, Pinerolo and Roletto.

In Moncalieri, about half a ton of fireworks were stored in the underground car park of a market, near the customers' entrance, without any protection or delimitation. In Nichelino, the pyrotechnic material was inside boxes, in the company premises intended for the overnight stay of the employees.

The five owners of the activities will have to answer for the crimes of illicit possession of explosive material and omission of precautions against accidents at work.
