The day before Marco Poggi, Chiara's brother, left with his parents, on 5 August 2007, for a holiday in Trentino he was "together" with Andrea Sempio , the new suspect in the Garlasco case, and it is, therefore, "unlikely" that his friend "was not aware" of the fact that the 19-year-old would soon be leaving for those days in the mountains .

As Sempio, instead, stated in his statement, claiming that he did not know when Marco would leave with his father and mother and this to explain those three phone calls to the Poggi house, where only the 26-year-old remained, considered "suspicious" by the investigators .

In fact, the documents confirmed a "phone call at 01.05 on August 4" made from Sempio's cell phone to the Poggi house, which was part of Marco's habit of warning his family with his friend's phone when he was returning home. A call that shows how "unlikely" it was that Sempio did not know that Marco Poggi and his family would be leaving the next day, leaving Chiara alone at home .

This is what we read in the report drawn up in 2020 by the investigators: a file, centered on the role of Chiara's brother's friend, which was however archived in the same year. And which is back in the news today and will be at the center of tomorrow's interrogation.

The Carabinieri have long been focusing on the "calls" chapter in their investigations against Sempio. Three suspicious phone calls when only Chiara was at home, made at 5:42 PM and 5:40 PM on August 7, and at 4:54 PM on the 8th, a few days after the murder . "I was looking for Marco," Sempio told investigators, according to whom Sempio himself should have known that his friend was in Trentino. Another detail: Sempio said he had first looked for Marco on his cell phone, which "had no reception," but Chiara Poggi's brother does not remember receiving "notifications of missed calls."

It seems "strange", the documents continue, that the boy's phone "was unreachable" between August 7 and 8, given that his parents' phones, who were on vacation with him and had the same telephone operator, "had received and made numerous calls" , as emerged from the phone records of the time. And " Sempio himself does not appear to have ever called Marco Poggi back, when the latter was reachable again ".

Tomorrow is a crucial day to understand what direction the investigation has taken. Sempio and Alberto Stasi have been summoned to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Pavia at 2 pm. At the same time, Marco Poggi, who lives in Mestre, will be heard as a witness in Venice . The interrogations will take place at the same time.

The suspicious calls, the alleged "holes" in Sempio's alibi, such as the "parking ticket" affair in Vigevano, along with other elements that the Pavia Prosecutor's Office has collected in these new investigations but not yet revealed, will be at the center of tomorrow's interrogation. Sempio, however, will have the option of not answering and waiting to learn all the documents and any evidence against him with the closure of the investigations .
