Alberto Stasi showed up punctually shortly before 2pm at the Pavia Courthouse, as part of the double summons to be heard together with Andrea Sempio , the only suspect in the new line of inquiry into the Garlasco crime.

Stasi, definitively sentenced to 16 years, is currently in semi-liberty. He entered through the carriage door of the Palace of Justice, at the back, without getting out of the car. Fabrizio Corona was also seen near the Courthouse.

Andrea Sempio, however, did not show up, and his lawyer Angela Taccia wrote in a story on social media “Hard war without fear - We love you Cpp” , referring to the Code of Criminal Procedure which they appealed to today to avoid showing up.

Sempio did not appear due to a "deficiency" in the invitation to appear for questioning, notified in recent days, "of the warning" provided for by article 375 paragraph 2 letter D. Article which provides that "the public prosecutor may order, pursuant to article 132, forced accompaniment in the event of failure to appear without legitimate impediment having been adduced" .

The lack of this "warning" in the prosecutor's act, according to the defense, entails the nullity of that invitation to appear , because it is a "warning considered fundamental" and that must be indicated to the suspect. At this point, from what has been learned, the prosecutors could notify a new invitation to appear, remedying that deficiency contested by the defense, or they could consider that their act was not null at all and that Sempio, summoned, did not show up. And in the event, also order forced accompaniment . This move by the defense from a procedural and technical perspective gives the sense, in any case, of the "battle" that the lawyers intend to carry forward .

«Murder committed by multiple people»

Palpable tension therefore, around an appointment defined by some as "anomalous" in this phase of the investigation, and which sees for the first time a direct precaution with respect to a possible leak of information, with the simultaneous summons, precisely, of Sempio, 37, and Stasi, 41. In Mestre instead Marco Poggi, brother of Chiara and friend of Sempio, is heard .

After 18 years the case has been reopened and, among understandable technical difficulties due to the time that has passed, for the first time what is being discussed is the reconstruction of a single person at the scene of the murder who surprised Chiara without even giving her time to defend herself.

The investigation, coordinated by the additional prosecutor Stefano Civardi and the public prosecutors Valentina De Stefano and Giuliana Rizza and conducted by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Milan, took the path of the conviction that the crime was committed not by one but by several people, including Andrea Sempio, the friend of the brother of the murdered 26-year-old, who according to the investigators was at the scene of the crime at the time of the murder .
