Elio Franzini and Enrico Felice Gherlone, rectors of the State University of Milan and of the San Raffaele Vita-Salute University, were indicted, together with three chief physicians, all of whom have come under investigation in recent months in a part of the Milanese investigation into alleged competitions piloted in universities , in particular in the faculties of Medicine.

This was decided this morning by the Milan investigating judge Cristian Mariani, accepting the request for indictment formulated by prosecutors Carlo Scalas and Bianca Baj Macario.

The judge acknowledged all the charges disputed in the investigation and set the first hearing for July 5 before the tenth criminal section . In particular, the two rectors are accused of disturbed freedom in the process of choosing the contractor : Franzini in relation to two competitions for a position as full professor in urology, one at the San Paolo and the other at the San Donato hospital, while Gherlone, according to the charge, only in relation to the tender for the position at the San Paolo.

For the affair, which dates back to 2021, the prosecutors also requested the trial for Francesco Montorsi , urologist and full professor at the Vita-Salute University of San Raffaele, for Stefano Centanni , full professor of respiratory system diseases at the University of of Milan and for Marco Carini , urologist at the University of Florence.

In another of the many chapters, completely independent, of the Milanese investigations into the alleged "concorsopoli" the infectious disease specialist Massimo Galli was also investigated, against whom, compared to the original ones, the complaints were then reduced by the prosecutors and it is remained an episode of bid rigging and forgery. Facts for which Galli will have to face a preliminary hearing after the request for a trial in recent months.
