Entrepreneur and former journalist and publisher Valter Lavitola is under investigation in the proceedings surrounding the attack on Sigfrido Ranucci, which took place last October in Rome. According to reports, Lavitola was searched by Carabinieri from the Rome and Frascati Investigative Unit on a warrant from the Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA). According to the evidence gathered, the entrepreneur—who has previously been implicated in various legal cases— is believed to be the instigator of the attack.
During the search , investigators seized the man's cell phone and laptop. The motive is still under investigation.
Four people were arrested on Tuesday. Prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi, prosecutors Carlo Villani (now the prosecutor in Velletri) and Edoardo De Santis believe the gang is the material perpetrator of the bombing.
Lavitola and the four others are charged with the possession, carrying in a public place, and use of an explosive device, as well as threats and damage, aggravated by mafia methods.
