Racial insults were directed at Antonella Bundu, a candidate for Toscana Rossa in the upcoming regional elections, and she responded on social media by smilingly displaying a banana. "The photo shows an Italian woman kindly offering a banana to those who have learned to throw it at her," she wrote on Facebook.

The insults began after a tweet on X by Francesca Totolo, a contributor to the CasaPound magazine Il Primato Nazionale, commenting on Bundu's presence at the International Anti-Racist Meeting in Cecina (Livorno). A tweet, the Toscana Rossa candidate explains, "where I'm called 'Sierrealean with Italian citizenship.'" Clearly not to explain a dual affiliation, as if that were something extra. No. She does it to emphasize that I'm not Italian like her. That my Italianness is an addition, a concession, not a right.

Bundu herself reported numerous offensive comments: " Go back to where you came from," "Monkeys out of Italy," "You shouldn't have your Muslim religion included, go back to Africa."

"I'm an atheist, but I was born in Florence and baptized in the Baptistery of Florence," Bundu writes, once again calling for the dissolution of CasaPound. " We can no longer accept that in a country born of the Resistance, those who openly invoke fascism still have political and media clout."
