The Facebook complaint about racist comments about her, posted by Fanny Tardioli, 24, from Campello sul Clitunno, Miss Umbria and runner-up at Miss Italy, has received only positive comments, messages of approval and support.

"Don't worry about them, move on and don't turn around. They don't deserve your attention or your time," wrote one. "Ignorance is the most subtle weapon used to subjugate our society," replied another Facebook user. "They're just keyboard warriors to be considered less than zero. Dream, girl, dream," another commenter commented, while another wrote, "You may not have worn a crown on your head, but you're the moral winner." This point is emphasized several times in the posts.

In her post, Fanny Tardioli spoke of "ignorance and malice" directed at her. "Only because some people," she added, "say I don't conform to the standards of 'Italian beauty,' and therefore I shouldn't even have the right (and talking about rights in a beauty pageant is downright foolish) to participate, much less to reach the podium, because surely 'the blonde with sky-blue eyes deserves more' (a purely Nordic standard, not even Italian). I'm sorry, but not for myself: because I know my worth, I know how many people love me every day, and above all, I know my origins and upbringing. I'm sorry for those people, fathers and mothers, who spend their days commenting on posts with photos of young girls (because that's what we are), insulting or denigrating them, without realizing that on the other end there might be someone who might be offended, who might react in an extreme way to certain comments, or who truly believe they're wrong."

"Everyone is brave behind a screen. For goodness sake," the beauty queen concluded. (Unioneonline)
