He had been labeled a self-styled "healer," but the Rimini court acquitted him because the charges did not support the crime of fraud. He was sentenced to 10 months in prison and a fine for practicing homeopathy without authorization and for violating the official seals on some packages of herbs he used as medicines.

Thus concluded the first-instance legal case stemming from the TV show "Striscia la Notizia " against Orfeo Bindi, 70, who was under investigation for prescribing miraculous "potions" to prevent Covid, cure ailments, and reduce cancer. The prosecution, represented by honorary deputy public prosecutor Simona Bagnaresi, had called most of Bindi's 30 clients as witnesses, but none of them stated they felt defrauded. None filed a complaint, and none filed a civil action, but they were all interviewed following preliminary investigations by investigators.

The professional, under investigation by the Guardia di Finanza (Italian Financial Police) in an investigation coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Davide Ercolani, was accused of prescribing medicinal herbs he called "powders," promising cures for ailments including coronavirus. The "healer" was discovered by Striscia la Notizia, and in January 2022, the Rimini Financial Police executed an order by investigating judge Benedetta Vitolo against Bindi, who was suspended from practicing as a homeopathic doctor. Bindi's lawyer, Antonio Giacomini of the Forlì Bar Association, announced he would appeal.
