On May 18, 2023, Giampiero Gualandi and Sofia Stefani allegedly signed a "sexual submission contract" . They spoke about it in the trial against the former commander of the local police of Anzola, accused of the murder of his young colleague , the deputy prosecutor Lucia Russo and the lawyer Andrea Speranzoni, civil defender for the Stefani family, in their interventions requesting evidence.

In the contract, it was reported in court, Gualandi "defined himself as master, the one who can do everything on his slave" . In one passage it was said: "I, lord and master, undertake to dominate the soul of my submissive" .

The contract, the defense of the former commander explained, "comes from the book '50 Shades of Grey', one of the editorial successes of 2011. It was a game, it has no validity, no legal effectiveness, no possibility of conditioning behavior. In sexual life adults can do what they want".

According to the prosecution , Gualandi, 63 years old (she was 33), in the frantic days that led to the murder, "was a prisoner in a castle of lies that he himself had built" .

Stefani was killed on May 16, 2024 by a shot fired from Gualandi's service pistol in the man's office, at Anzola's command. The defendant, present in court for the first time, wearing a gray pinstriped suit and sitting next to his defense attorneys Claudio Benenati and Lorenzo Valgimigli, has always maintained the hypothesis of an accident, a shot fired by mistake during a fight .

"But as will be seen from the technical consultancy - said the prosecutor Russo on this point - no biological or fingerprint traces of her were found on the weapon, but only of the defendant ."

In speaking about the "tormented relationship" between the two, the prosecutor reconstructed how it was highly unbalanced due to Stefani's age and vulnerability and reconstructed the " cyclical alternation of moments of calm and tension, up until the tragic epilogue ".

A relationship that ended for a few days at the end of April 2024, following the chance discovery of Gualandi's wife, but the man, the prosecutor said, instead of admitting the facts and taking responsibility , invented the idea that it had ended some time ago and that it was the young woman who continued to stalk him .

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the relationship resumed a few days later, "with his wife completely unaware of it". "In the phase preceding the murder, Gualandi took on behaviors of absolute duplicity, sending Stefani messages confirming the emotional and sexual relationship while, in the same minutes, he wrote to his wife that he was tormented by Stefani ". In this sense, he would therefore have been a prisoner of the "castle of lies" .
