A forty-year-old pharmacist, Filomena La Montagna, died when she was hit by the car she had parked uphill in Casalnuovo, just outside Naples.
According to what has been reconstructed, as soon as she got out to go to work, the car moved and accelerated: the woman instinctively tried to stop it but remained crushed between her car and another parked along the road.
Investigations are underway, especially to understand whether the handbrake was defective or whether it was not engaged.
On social media the condolences of the mayor of Casalnuovo, Massimo Pelliccia: «A terrible accident which the police are clarifying. We are close to the family for this terrible tragedy which has left the entire community in shock."
"Mena", as she was known, is also remembered by the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Speranza in Marigliano, the municipality where she was originally from and where her funeral will be held. «The Franciscan fraternity joins in the grief of the La Montagna family for the sudden death of dear Mena. We have known you since you were little. You breathed 'Franciscan air', you faced difficult moments but we remember you with your desire for life, your smile, your beauty, your sunshine."
